❌ ChatGPT's impact on marketing
Hey 👋
"ChatGPT is going to change the world."
Yeah, yeah.
Listen up, there are lot of opinions about ChatGPT.
Every marketing influencer is talking about it on social media.
You either hear stuff about how it's going to be a marketer's best friend, or that it's going to replace copywriters and tons of jobs.
There's a mix of excitement and fear.
But you have to remember that there's a never-ending cycle of evolution. And it shows up in different forms every few decades.
New jobs are constantly being created, while old ones die. You will never be out of a job as long as you accept evolution.
What's that saying? "Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another."
Replace the word "energy" with "jobs" and read that sentence again.
500 years ago, writers were scared they would lose their jobs to the printing press. But instead, the printing press became a tool to mass produce books and written content — it enhanced the work of writers.
Today, ChatGPT is showing early signs that it's not going to replace copywriters or marketers, but rather it's going to integrate with our work.
The calculator did not put math teachers out of business.
If you want to start adapting to this new technology, the best thing you can do for yourself is learn how to leverage ChatGPT.
And you do this through prompts.
Knowing what prompts to use can help you with almost any marketing task you can think of.
Need to organize a spreadsheet of keywords by topic? Use a prompt designed specifically for that.
Need 20 different headline variations for a Google PPC ad? Use a prompt designed for that.
Need to validate a campaign idea and make sure it's "politically correct?" Use a prompt designed for that.
Point is, ChatGPT is not just for creating AI generated content. The use cases are broad.
Here's an example of how prompts can be used for SEO marketers:
So fear not, your job is not getting replaced.
But take the time to play around with ChatGPT. Next time you have a question about something you're doing at work, ask ChatGPT and see what it says.
ChatGPT is your marketing calculator.
