Hey there 👋

Growing a startup is almost like operating a high-performance a race car.

The Racecar Growth Framework states that "the same components that help a car drive faster are also the components of your Growth Model."

You can think of it like this:

  • 1) Growth engine: self-sustaining growth loops that drive most of your growth

  • 2) Fuel: The inputs that your engine needs to run

  • 3) Lubricants: Optimizations that make the growth engine run more efficiently

  • 4) Turbo boosts: One-off events that accelerate growth temporarily

  • 5) Kickstarts: Ways to get your engine rolling (i.e. getting your first 1,000 users)

Within each of these components lives a set of principles, strategies, channels, and tactics for your overall growth model.

For example, your growth engine could include things like paid ads, in-product virality loops, SEO, or a sales motion. Lubricants can include things like CRO, retention, activation, and brand. And Turbo boosts can include things like events, co-marketing campaigns, PR, influencer posts, and more.

Thinking about growth in this framework can make it easier to understand.
